Everton are interested in signing Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale to succeed Jordan Pickford at the club.
Currently, the news of Southampton finalising Daniel Peretz’s permanent move is all the talk around St. Mary’s. With the keeper committing to help the Saints’ promotion push, his arrival has stabilised the club’s goalkeeping position for the upcoming seasons.
But beyond the clear advantages of signing Peretz, his deal is set to have significant repercussions on other Saints’ futures. One key name whose future has become clearer as a result is Aaron Ramsdale.
Having returned from his Newcastle loan just days ago, there was uncertainty surrounding Ramsdale’s future. However, Peretz’s signing confirms that Southampton view him as their number one moving forward, and Ramsdale is now expected to leave this summer.
In this regard, an interesting update has emerged that could help Southampton resolve Ramsdale’s situation. According to Sportsboom, Everton are interested in signing the keeper to succeed Jordan Pickford.
Sportsboom reported on Everton’s interest, stating: “Everton are weighing up a move for Aaron Ramsdale as they look to provide healthy competition for Jordan Pickford, with the long-term view of eventually taking over as the club’s No.1.”
Everton interested in signing exit-bound keeper Aaron Ramsdale
In recent seasons, Everton and Southampton have found themselves coupled in several transfer rumours. Although the only direct exchange between the two, Tyler Dibling, has been a failed move for the Toffees, the club remain interested in acquiring Saints star players.
Notably, Everton’s interest in Ramsdale stems from Jordan Pickford’s concerning form in the concluding phase of the 2025/26 season. Despite being in contention for a European spot, the Toffees slipped from a top‑eight finish to below mid‑table toward the end of the campaign.
While the whole club shared responsibility for the slip‑up, one key performer who failed to step up was Jordan Pickford. Having conceded 15 goals in the last seven Premier League games, Everton lost or drew every one of those matches.

Overall, Pickford’s 2025/26 campaign was modest at best. Given his Premier League experience and his pedigree as England’s star keeper, his 66.7% save percentage and 50 goals conceded at an average of 1.31 per game fell below par.
Going forward, Everton’s eventual plan is to bring in a suitable replacement for Jordan Pickford sooner rather than later. The club’s interest in Aaron Ramsdale stems from their view of him as a solid option to lead their duties between the sticks.
Southampton will hold Everton’s interest in high regard for Ramsdale
It is worth noting that more suitors will eventually come asking Southampton for Aaron Ramsdale this summer. While the Saints have a significant chance of securing a better deal than what Everton might offer, they would be wise to consider the Toffees’ interest closely.
The reason is that Everton’s stance on Ramsdale feels very similar to the Newcastle spell he has just returned from. Both clubs are looking to replace their ageing keepers in Pope and Pickford, and Ramsdale would likely feel more accustomed to this situation if he ends up at Everton.
Although Ramsdale could not impress Newcastle enough to earn a permanent move, the keeper did have his opportunities. With Everton open to trying him as a successor to Pickford, he would have a better chance to perform without the constant pressure of being dropped after unconvincing displays.
From Southampton’s perspective, Everton presents an ambitious buyer of Saints talent. Having signed Charly Alcaraz for €15m from Flamengo and Tyler Dibling for £40m last summer, the Saints could fancy another hefty sale in Ramsdale’s case.
It is more than likely that Ramsdale would be reluctant to stay as a backup to Daniel Peretz in the Championship. With the former Arsenal keeper entering the second‑to‑last year of his Saints contract, this may be Southampton’s best chance to secure a significant fee from his departure.
