Tottenham Hotspur still retain Leo Scienza transfer interest amid current £60m negotiations for Manchester City winger Savinho.
Throughout the last two weeks, Southampton fans have shown concern for several players leaving the building in the aftermath of the ‘Spygate’ scandal. The likes of club captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Leo Scienza, Finn Azaz, Caspar Jander and Shea Charles were quite integral to the Saints’ 24/25 season.
And the worst part? These players are still entering the prime years of their careers, so they will naturally attract top Premier League clubs. Honestly, all of these departures will hurt but nothing compares to losing Leo Scienza after just one year.
The Brazilian winger is Southampton’s creative engine in the final third on the pitch, and his 7 goals and 10 Championship assists speak volumes. Off the pitch, Scienza is a Saint through and through.
He has developed a brilliant connection with the fans, never shies away from speaking after a defeat and always steps up for Southampton when it matters the most. Less said, Scienza is the type of player Saints fans have longed to stay at the club for years.
Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Leo Scienza from Southampton
Given Southampton’s parachute payment club status for 2026/27 Championship it’s clear Scienza won’t jump ship to a second-tier rival. Fending off Premier League interest is thus, the only worry, especially from Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have kept tabs on Scienza’s Southampton exploits for quite a while now. Since April, they have registered an interest in the 27-year-old winger along with a host of Premier League clubs like Everton and Leeds United. However, Spurs have performed worse in the league than those clubs in recent seasons.

That makes them as the most serious destination for Leo Scienza, one where the Southampton star might walk into the starting XI from day 1. According to a recent Football London report, Spurs are willing to pay around £25m for bringing Scienza to North London.
Interestingly, he is not the only left winger Tottenham are after these days.
Tottenham Hotspur negotiating with Man City for £60m-rated Savinho
Alongside Leo Scienza, Tottenham Hotspur are also long-term admirers of Man City winger Savinho. Last summer, Spurs narrowly missed out on agreeing a £60m deal that later left them weaker in terms of wing options. Consequently, a poor Premier League season followed with a 17th place finish and a near brush-up with relegation.
This time, Spurs are determined to get a deal over the line for Savinho. In the words of Fabrizio Romano: “Understand Tottenham have now reactivated talks to sign Savinho this summer. Initial discussions underway after last summer deal was on, then collapsed as Man City decided not to sell. Savio, open to the move.”
There is no mention of an official bid right now but various Spurs outlets are floating a £60m figure on the Savinho deal. On paper, the Leo Scienza signing will cost Tottenham almost half of it but Southampton fans will want them to proceed with the Savinho deal itself.
Fresh from a poor Premier League campaign, Spurs have a host of positions to bolster so they won’t want to pay a premium for adding 2 players just to upgrade one position. That means if Spurs sign Savinho from Man City, they won’t pursue Leo Scienza’s transfer afterwards.
Let’s hope that happens and Scienza somehow stays at Southampton even if it looks bleak right now.
