Southampton are set to make a huge Shea Charles transfer blunder amid Premier League interest from Manchester United and Everton.
The FA Cup has seen a fair share of upsets this season as it always does. Macclesfield beating Crystal Palace, Port Vale reaching the quarter finals are indeed unbelievable upsets however nothing tops Southampton beating Arsenal 2-1 at St. Mary’s.
Arsenal were widely regarded as soon-to-be Premier League winners ever since 2026 began. Plus, Southampton were nowhere to be seen in the Championship playoffs picture until March when Tonda Eckert’s men sat in the top 6 for the first time.
A few Southampton fans knew the Saints had everything to beat Arsenal based on the 14-game unbeaten run but casual Premier League fans and top-flight media have only now started to take notice. After knocking out Arsenal from the FA Cup, many Southampton players are getting hailed as Premier League material these days.
And that means only one thing. Multiple Premier League clubs will be eyeing Southampton’s FA Cup stars from the Arsenal win once the summer transfer window rolls around.
Premier League duo eye Shea Charles transfer
Southampton players like Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Flynn Downes dropped consistent individual performances in the previous Premier League campaign. They will undoubtedly be on the radar of many Premier League clubs again for a potential 2026 summer switch.

Alongside Harwood-Bellis and Downes will be Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. Charles has adapted well to Tonda Eckert’s setup after recovering from his hamstring injury in January. The 22-year-old is a nailed-on starter in this Southampton team that has now gone over two months without a defeat across all competitions.
Plus, Charles has built a great reputation for scoring key goals when Southampton need him the most. He scored the 4-3 Leicester City comeback winner, a 2-0 screamer at Oxford United and recently, the 2-1 FA Cup winner vs Arsenal by placing Fellows pass into the bottom right corner.
According to a Daily Mail report, Premier League duo Manchester United and Everton are eyeing a Shea Charles transfer. In their own words, Daily Mail weighed on the Shea Charles transfer interest: “The 22-year-old came off the bench to score Southampton’s FA Cup quarter-final winner over Arsenal at the weekend and is valued around £20million by his club.”
Southampton set to make huge Shea Charles transfer blunder
Shea Charles is hitting his peak Southampton form right now, hands down. He is young but fairly experienced at 22 years old, which is desirable in the eyes of Premier League clubs. Not to forget, Charles is a former Manchester City academy graduate.
All in all, this Premier League interest in Charles won’t surprise Southampton fans. What will instead, is the transfer blunder the club are about to commit. The Saints have placed a modest £20m price tag on Shea Charles which is the problem.

In a market where every other teenage talent gets billed as a £50m-60m prodigy, Southampton are playing it extra conservative with Shea Charles. And that’s when Charles has stood out at Championship level for the third season running.
The level of calmness and ball control Charles shows in midfield, there is no doubt he can start for a mid-table Premier League side. Moreover, Charles admitted a few days ago that he doesn’t keep his mind busy with transfer talks all the time.
That says the Northern Irishman is in no rush to leave Southampton to jump ship to any Premier League club.
What should Southampton do about Shea Charles transfer situation?
Shea Charles’ Saints contract runs until 2027, with an option for Southampton to trigger a contract renewal until 2028. If the club gets to the Premier League in May, or atleast the playoffs after a tough 2025/26 season Shea Charles might be open to penning fresh terms on his Saints deal.
This scenario is exactly what Southampton should look out for. It will also be better for Shea Charles to get to the Premier League with Southampton, play a good season or two in the top-flight and then plot a massive transfer to a Big 6 Premier League club.
As for Southampton, the club should atleast try to fetch a transfer fee in the region of £40-50m with Shea Charles future sale.
