Southampton have possibly dropped a Cyle Larin transfer hint while announcing Daniel Peretz’s €7m permanent signing from Bayern Munich.
Southampton officially announced Daniel Peretz’s permanent signing from Bayern Munich a few hours ago. Now, there are multiple positive takeaways from Peretz’s transfer announcement starting with the reported transfer fee.
The Saints have paid €7m for Peretz’s services which comes to just above £6m. Until he was signed, there were plenty of speculations suggesting the final price will be in the region of £7-8 million, so Southampton clearly saved a few million there.
Plus, Peretz’s desire for a Southampton return is said to be fuelled by Tonda Eckert’s continuation (which is almost guaranteed barring an FA ban out of nowhere). As if this wasn’t enough, Southampton fans have more to smile to from the club’s Daniel Peretz announcement clip.
Southampton drop Cyle Larin transfer hint with Daniel Peretz announcement
To announce Daniel Peretz’s permanent transfer, Southampton kept a creative phone ring theme. In the 30-second clip, there is a ringing call in the opening sequence which Peretz picks up.
Peretz then goes, “It’s Daniel Peretz. How are you? I have some news for you all.” Then his contract extension news follows with Peretz confirming: “Our journey isn’t over yet”. The 25-year-old goalkeeper concludes it saying: “Let’s get to work. See you soon.”
At this point, his transfer announcement part is done but suddenly, another phone call rings. That one lasts for 3 seconds before the clip ends abruptly. Pretty sure, it’s a hint for another upcoming Southampton signing.

As expected, Saints fans have begun the guesswork for it. Most of them believe it’s a teaser for Cyle Larin’s permanent transfer. Similar to Peretz, Larin was a mid-season Southampton loan move that looked sceptical at first but was a Johannes Spors masterstroke in hindsight.
Larin bagged just one shy of 10 Southampton goals within half-a-season and that stellar performance has led the club wanting him to stay. In recent days, Larin himself acknowledged his brilliant 2025/26 Saints stint and left the door open for a permanent transfer to stay at the club for longer.
Southampton are rumoured to have begun work on securing Larin’s signature, so, more likely than not, the phone ring hint will be for the towering Canadian striker himself.
What next for Southampton in the 2026 summer transfer window?
Daniel Peretz’s €7m swoop is done. With Cyle Larin’s signing along the way, what could be Southampton’s next moves in the 2026 summer transfer window?
Going by journalist Alfie House’s earlier update, Southampton will focus attention towards renewing James Bree and Ross Stewart’s contracts up next. Once that is agreed, then the Saints transfer chiefs might start drawing out transfer plans as to which players to sell and whom not to throughout the rest of the summer window.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is merely a week away and will last for more than a month. During that time, the majority of Premier League and Championship clubs will slow down transfer dealings so it makes no sense for Southampton to rush into selling players quickly for modest offers.
The World Cup can also provide Southampton with promising transfer targets to keep an eye on. All in all, expect Bree and Stewart’s new contracts to be announced by the coming week and then wait patiently for player exits and new signings after the World Cup final on 19th July.
