A £20m Premier League transfer involving Brighton and Coventry City can impact the long-term future of Daniel Peretz at Southampton.
A few days ago, Daniel Peretz gave his verdict on a permanent Southampton transfer. He admitted how happy he was to keep playing more and more at Southampton which gives the impression that the 25-year-old might stick with the Saints even if they play Championship football next season.
At the same time, Peretz insisted on playing in the top leagues which says his Southampton career won’t be more than a couple of years long. A Premier League interest thus seems enough reason for the Israel international to leave Tonda Eckert’s Saints camp.
So far, no concrete interest or talk of any Premier League transfer bids have come in the picture. Peretz has never set foot in the top-flight before, which might work well in Southampton’s favour to avoid rivals from pursuing his transfer.
But anything can happen in the summer transfer market. More precisely, a £20m future Premier League transfer can impact whether Daniel Peretz’s immediate future lies at St. Mary’s or far away from it.
£20m Carl Rushworth deal can impact Daniel Peretz’s future
Southampton fans often wonder where they would have been in the Championship table had Daniel Peretz been brought last summer instead. Perhaps, Peretz might be the best Championship keeper around in a full season. A position which league leaders Coventry City’s No.1 Carl Rushworth holds.

There’s not a shadow of doubt left that Rushworth won’t gain a Premier League promotion within a month. However, his top-flight destination for the 2026/27 season is quite unclear as things stand. According to a Football League World report, Coventry City and Brighton are yet to agree a £20m deal for Carl Rushworth.
Right now, Brighton has 23-year-old Bart Verbruggen in goal which indicates they will be open to selling Rushworth for £20m. But again, Southampton fans should remember that the Seagulls often keep replacing many top talents every year.
They might sell Verbruggen if a huge offer arrives and then, proceed to retain Carl Rushworth as the first choice. The report suggests Coventry City can then go all-out to sign Peretz ahead of their first Premier League campaign in over 20 years.
Who should Southampton sign to replace Daniel Peretz?
Taking the situation where Southampton misses out on Daniel Peretz’s permanent signing, whom should the Saints sign instead? First things first, it’s clear that Gavin Bazunu shouldn’t be backed at Southampton any further.

He has always looked shaky in the Saints goal since his 2022 move, and his current Stoke City loan has also turned out to be a failure with a long-term injury. Saints loanee Aaron Ramsdale is an exciting idea as a starting keeper. However, the club will need to convince him to drop down to the Championship for a season.
If Ramsdale holds out for a Premier League move, going back to former target Anthony Patterson could be wise. Patterson has found his feet at Millwall, where he has recorded 3 clean sheets in 7 appearances.
Southampton have constantly scouted him since last summer which shows Johannes Spors and co will be keeping a close eye on his loan situation if the need arises. Other Championship star keepers like Radek Vitek and Viktor Johansson can also come in the bigger picture.
Till then, let’s see how the Daniel Peretz permanent transfer plays out from Southampton’s point of view.
