Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to sign Will Still’s favourite Southampton defender Joshua Quarshie, in the summer transfer window.
Every Southampton fan knows that former Saints boss Will Still has a soft spot for West Ham. But nobody expected Will Still to rule himself out of the running to be the West Ham coach even if an opportunity came later.
Watching Will Still’s St. Mary’s tenure, fans will wonder what if he had a similar soft spot for Southampton as well. Perhaps, the team might have sealed an automatic promotion by now under Tonda Eckert.
After all, Still ruined Southampton’s promotion hopes by gathering only 2 wins from 13 league matches. In doing so, Will Still brought the worst version of every Southampton player he had.
Joshua Quarshie was Will Still’s favourite Southampton defender
It’s still surprising that Still didn’t rate the rock-solid centre back pairing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jack Stephens. Instead, he used to give more chances to young defenders like Joshua Quarshie and Ronnie Edwards.
Southampton eventually sold Ronnie Edwards to QPR for £4.5m in January. However, Quarshie might still be starting most of the games if Still was in charge until now. The German defender was decent at long-throws and that was enough reason in Will Still’s eyes to keep backing him regardless of his poor decision making at the back.

At 21, Quarshie is still a young defender learning his craft. He was superb yet awful at times during the international break, but Quarshie’s flaws didn’t got highlighted just because Germany U21 won those games easily.
Maybe, a change of surroundings to a different league can do the world of good to Quarshie. As such, one Bundesliga club is keen on the 21-year-old Southampton ace and might look into a transfer when the summer window opens in June.
Eintracht Frankfurt keen to sign Joshua Quarshie
According to a BILD report, Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt is keen to add Joshua Quarshie to their defensive ranks. The German club is on track for a last-gasp Conference League push at the moment and has got a brilliant history of developing top talents.
Frankfurt have developed multiple elite players like Hugo Ekitike, Omar Marmoush and Randal Kolo Muani in recent years alone. No doubt, Frankfurt can be a good fit for Quarshie provided they can assure him regular minutes to grow his confidence.

This 2025/26 season is all but over for Joshua Quarshie as far as Southampton’s first team setup is concerned. The Saints are riding high on a 14 game unbeaten streak across all competitions. With that in mind, it would be an unnecessary risk to change the backline all of a sudden to test out raw talents like Quarshie.
Southampton’s strong Bundesliga relations can accelerate Quarshie move
Southampton have always appreciated Bundesliga talent over the years. And since Johannes Spors arrival in early 2025, the Saints have doubled down upon their scouting in the German top-flight. Southampton have signed Leo Scienza, Caspar Jander, Damion Downs, Joshua Quarshie and Daniel Peretz on loan from German football in the past twelve months itself.
This is a strong indication of healthy transfer relations between the Saints hierarchy and Bundesliga clubs. Thus, the Joshua Quarshie to Frankfurt move could be ramped up much sooner than Southampton fans are imagining at this point. Let’s see, how soon Frankfurt come in with a loan or a permanent offer for Quarshie.
